Email channel
The AI that answers chat on your store can answer your support email too — with the same live WooCommerce data behind it. Same brain, different doorway.
The email channel is rolling out per merchant. If you do not see it in your dashboard yet, ask in the chat on storebird.ai.
How it works
You forward your support mail to a unique Storebird address. Incoming mail becomes a conversation in your Inbox, the AI reads it with your catalog and order data at hand, and prepares a reply.
By default that reply is a draft you approve — nothing goes out under your name until you say so.
Setting it up
Open Channels in settings.
- Copy your forward address. You get a unique address ending in
@mg.storebird.ai. - Set up forwarding in your own mail provider (Gmail, Outlook, your host) so support mail is copied to that address. This works with any provider — no password or account access needed.
- Set your Reply-To address so customers replying to an answer land back in your real support inbox.
- Add a signature if you want replies signed consistently.
- Run the test on the same page to see a real draft on a real question before anything is live.
Draft mode vs automatic
Draft mode (default) — the AI writes, you read, edit if needed, and send. Start here. It is the only way to learn where the AI is strong and where your knowledge base is thin, at zero risk to your reputation.
Automatic mode — the AI replies without you. Only turn this on after weeks of drafts you would have sent unchanged. You will be asked to confirm, because it changes what your customers receive without a human in between.
Where drafts appear
In your Inbox, alongside chat conversations. Filter by channel to see mail only. Each thread shows the customer's message and the prepared reply, with the order and product context the AI used next to it.
What to expect in the first week
- Answers are as good as your knowledge base. Email questions are usually longer and more specific than chat, so gaps show up faster. Feed every gap back — see Train your AI.
- Not every mail deserves an AI reply. Complaints, refunds and anything emotional are yours.
- Check the drafts for tone before you check them for facts. Email carries your voice further than chat does.
Sending from your own domain
Replies can go out from your own domain, which is better for deliverability and looks like you rather than like a tool. This needs DNS records on your side — request it from the Channels page and we will set it up with you.

Still stuck?
Ask the chat on this page — it reads these guides. If it cannot help, leave your email and a human picks it up.
